Hurricane Irma couldn'nt stop us! Mark your calendars! Islamorada and the Florida Keys could use some great music, beer and friends more than ever! Show your support and join us for an amazing weekend of music and Florida Craft Beer. More information coming soon. We are super excited to announce that Islamorada Community Entertainment (ICE) & Florida Keys Brewing Co will be partnering with Audubon's Everglades Science Center for the 6th Annual BayGrass Bluegrass Festival January 12-14th! Here is a statement from the Everglades Science Center! As a result of the partnership between ICE and Audubon Florida’s Everglades Science Center (ESC), this year’s Baygrass Bluegrass festival is focusing on sustainable living in the Florida Keys as well as foot-stompin’ bluegrass entertainment. ESC’s mission is to provide research to water management agencies, state and local governments, and the community emphasizing the importance of restoring historical fresh water flows to Florida Bay. The communities surrounding the Everglades and Florida Bay can contribute to Florida Bay restoration by embracing sustainable living practices. Sustainable living is a lifestyle which reduces one’s use of natural and personal resources. Several new additions to this year’s festival will educate and engage festivalgoers on the philosophy and application of sustainable living. Sustainability village will allow festivalgoers to explore interactive booths from organizations either engaged in Everglades and Florida Bay research or providing education on how to live sustainably. Just by attending, festivalgoers will take steps to a more sustainable lifestyle with the festival promotors who are working hard to provide an almost plastic-free festival. Local high school students are encouraged to participate in the Restore Florida Bay Essay contest in the weeks leading up to the festival. The winner will have the opportunity to read their essay on the importance of restoring Florida Bay for future generations at the Festival and receive several prizes. The Bike to Baygrass initiative encourages all festivalgoers to reduce their carbon footprint by riding their bike to the festival instead of driving their automobile. Secure, bike parking will be provided and all participants will be entered into a raffle to win an ESC bike jersey. Many bike jerseys will be raffled off. Together on January 14th, 2018 we will sing, dance, raise our awareness of the state of Florida Bay and what is being done to restore it, and take steps toward a more sustainable lifestyle
